What is Reflexology?
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is a complementary treatment that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet. These points are believed to correspond with different organs and systems within the body. It's a practice which has been around for many years and dates back to ancient Egyptian times. Its a deeply relaxing therapy which can be enjoyed by people of all ages to promote wellbeing and healing.
Will reflexology help me?
Many people use reflexology as a way to help improve their wellbeing and help with health concerns. We do not use it to cure or diagnose. Reflexology is a very individualised treatment and is working on the individual as a whole. However it does help to:
-
reduce stress
-
Improves sleep
-
lifts mood
-
releases tension
-
induces relaxation
Overall, reflexology is a powerful tool for enhancing wellbeing and the best way to see if it is of benefit to you is to try it.

What happens during a treatment?
Once your appointment is confirmed you'll be asked to complete a consultation form. Using this information I shall tailor a treatment to your needs. During the treatment you'll be asked to remove your shoes and socks, and get comfortable on the treatment couch. If you need any help with this, please feel free to ask for support. I'll then cover you with a blanket you keep you warm and start the treatment.
Reflexology is a non-invasive treatment and very relaxing for most people. I tend not to chat to you during the treatment to allow you to fully relax and unwind, and if you do happen to fall asleep, don't worry, I'm used to it. However if you do want to chat, then feel free. You take the lead as this is your time.
What happens after a treatment?
At the end of your treatment you'll be gently made aware the treatment has finished and I'll give you some time to come around, pop your shoes on and ask any questions.
To continue to feel the benefits of your treatment I advise you to stay hydrated, rest for the remainder of the day (if you can) and avoid any stimulants. If you have any questions after leaving the treatment room, please feel free to get in touch. Its also great to hear how you are feeling post treatment, so please drop me a message and let me know.
How often should I have reflexology?
This varies from person to person. When you first start having reflexology I usually recommend a few weekly treatments. I then discuss the options of spreading them out with the aim to get you onto monthly maintenance treatments. But the plan will very much be based on your needs and the reason for having reflexology. We can discuss what's best for you at your first treatment.
